Pine Grove Borough - America's best hidden secrets are found in small towns.

Recycling is serious business in Schuylkill County, every time you recycle you support the many companies, employees and  the community doing this important work. One of the major problems in recycling for Schuylkill County is electronics. Under the CDRA (Covered Device Recycling Act) PA residents are faced with the dilemma of having no way to dispose of unwanted electronics banned from landfills. Electronic waste is increasing as litter around the Commonwealth. This is hazardous waste. With the Pennsylvania’s electronics recycling law passed in 2010, it has failed to provide the robust electronics recycling opportunities intended by its supporters. It would take a major change in Pennsylvania’s electronics recycling law to really fix the many problems with the program. These problems are not new, but they have been mostly known only to the folks directly involved. Action is being taken to fix Pennsylvania’s electronics recycling law and amend the CDRA (Covered Device Recovery Act) but it’s a slow process.

In the meantime, the best solution is to utilize the most reliable, cost efficient way to reduce the amount of electronics within your municipality.

You can try a couple different options to dispose of all your used, old and unwanted electronics.

Damian Schoff
(570) 952-1255 - owns a small business in Brockton that will pick up e-waste at a residents home, he recycles his electronics through Responsible Recycling Services out of Kutztown. He does charge for his services, it depends what you have and where you are located. I give his name out when people ask because it is a service that people often want and no one that I know of picks up for residents and I know he is recycling properly.

-Lastly, you can wait for the County to host an event and/or check your local newspapers to see if any other municipality in your surrounding area is having their own electronic event in the near future.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime.
